Realistic placement simulator for maritime works.
Simulates complex construction processes
PLACSIM® conducts realistic simulations considering the effect of gravity and collisions between elements of coastal structures under the laws of classical mechanics. Its current application is in the field of coastal engineering, such as mound breakwaters (armor units), toe berms of vertical breakwaters, or homogeneous low crested structures. It can simulate both new and repair works.

PLACSIM® is coded under UnityTM environment, where a Game Engine (GE) is integrated to simulate the action of gravity and collisions between objects. The GE used by Unity is PhysX, developed by NVIDIA, which solves the equations of classical mechanics (Newton’s Laws).
More information on PLACSIM’s predecessor software can be found in our article Molines et al. (2021). (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0378383921000612)
